Darkhart Design is a web application consulting company that provides expert design and development expertise for a wide variety of web based technologies. Starting with a background in old fashioned Perl/CGI, our development expertise now extends fully into Java and J2EE technologies as well as rapid application development with PHP and Ruby on Rails. We are also experienced with emerging "Web 2.0" technologies like AJAX based application systems.

Our design and development expertise also extends to the web site design, layout and graphical development areas.

Background

Darkhart originally began as Darkhart Games in the mid to early 90's, founded by Fred Hirsch to support several interactive chat websites that utilized the SEaChat web based chat. While SEaChat is used in this way for a number of current projects, this project became fully owned and operated by Shallowearth Webware (now defunct) when the founder lost interest in the projects.

Eventually, Darkhart changed its focus over the years and now acts as a consulting company for web application software. We have helped to create fully functional eCommerce sites using the PHP OSCommerce suite, created several custom PHPNuke and PostNuke modules, developed and contributed to PHP frameworks and created custom applications based on that framework code.

The Future

Our current focus is on development of a web application to allow web based music streaming and collection management using the CakePHP framework. We have found this framework to be extremely robust in its design and usefulness and plan to use it in other projects in the future.
